The use of simulation in educating health care professionals enables learners to practice necessary skills in an environment that allows for errors and professional growth without risking patient safety. The RUSH Center for Clinical Skills and Simulation offers students, residents, fellows and clinicians state-of-the art simulators, including high-fidelity mannequins that breathe, bleed and otherwise simulate just about everything a real human patient would do.
Our simulation center gives trainees and clinicians from across multiple disciplines one place to hone their skills, practice crisis management and conduct research on a wide array of medical circumstances, from the everyday to the rare. Training takes place in procedure rooms that replicate the real facilities in RUSH's hospital building and utilizes human patient simulators that replicate patient signs, symptoms and conditions.
Physicians, nurses, and technicians trained in simulation are available to assist in planning your simulation experience and to offer expert consultation on simulation-based education and research. Real-world tools include ultrasound equipment, medication dispensing stations and the same clinical communications system found in RUSH's hospital building.
RUSH University is also a member of the Chicago Simulation Consortium, which consists of 39 health sciences institutions with the mission to support health science educators who conduct simulation-based educational programs in the Chicago area and facilitate collaborative research.
